We are over the moon and so excited to announce that we have won a Great Taste Award for our Free-Range Whole Bird!

To be recognised by the Great Taste Awards feels like a real honour – they have even been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world! Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Award is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink, so we feel incredibly honoured to have won one.

Over 500 judges blind tasted our Sutton Hoo Free-Range Whole Bird and decided that it was worthy of a Great Taste award. We credit this to how we rear our birds. It isn’t a secret that we have a passion for welfare and tradition when it comes to chickens, and we believe the vast 40 acres of meadows and fields that our birds have as theirs to roam in is a main contributor to what produces that great tasting, high quality meat. We also believe that by using a slower growing breed of chicken, their longer life and rearing period (70% longer than standard indoor chickens and 25% longer than standard free-range chickens) means that they develop a fuller and more succulent flavour.

The fact that we are officially a winner of a Great Taste Award still hasn’t quite sunk in, it really is such an achievement and we are delighted to be sharing it with you. Thank you to Great Taste Awards and all the judges who voted for Sutton Hoo!
